Потому что они _красивы_. (экономику потерял, она цинична)
Некрасивые предметы нечасты (например, "основы сексуального
просвещения" -- пробегали как-то в лицее такие деятели).
Обычно плохи преподаватели, которые не знают или скорее даже не
любят предмет или детей. Первое не так страшно, как второе --
незнающий преподаватель, который любит детей, способен засесть
за учебники вечерами; а вот сноб, который всё знает, но зажимает
красоту под мышкой и не раскрывает её детишкам, действительно
способен отбить большинству из них интерес к предмету.
