В терминологии GUI "элемент управления" - это не widget, а control.
widget - это "графический элемент".

Конкретно для этого слова написанный по материалам нашей рассылки.
В IBM используется виджет. Я только рад этому - это уже вполне
прижившееся и понятное слово. См. драйвер, принтер, компьютер...
