Во-первых, "KDE translation HOWTO" -- это наверное вот эта статья:
http://l10n.kde.org/docs/translation-howto/ ? Специально для русской
команды KDE есть была написана статья
http://l10n.lrn.ru/wiki/Краткий_справочник_переводчика_KDE , а в "The
KDE Translation HOWTO" слишком много устаревших и ненужных деталей.
У меня, и наверное у многих других людей, почти противоположный взгляд
на LaunchPad: невозможность в веб-интерфейсе иметь перед глазами
большое количество переводов и неудобная навигация приводит к тому,
что достаточно сложно перед началом перевода настроиться на
сложившуюся терминологию. В результате многие люди переводят не KDE в
целом, и даже не программы, а отдельные сообщения, и качество
переводов падает. Надеюсь, что Вы воспримете мои слова с пониманием.
Чтобы эффективно участвовать в переводе KDE на русский язык, как уже
сказал Альберт, не обязательно пользоваться SVN. Конечно, чтобы
работать со многими файлами переводов, намного удобнее пользоваться
SVN.
Если Вы видите какие-то конкретные преимущества в использовании
Launchpad, может быть мы могли бы перенести их в процесс перевода KDE?
