Там сейчас много городов с населением в сотни, а то и десятки человек
- о таких города в русской Википедии ни гу-гу. Даже для городов с
населением в тысячи человек не всегда информация есть.

Спасибо, посмотрю.
Кстати, есть ли какие правила транслитерации населенных пунктов со
сложносоставным названием? Взять к примеру американский Los Angeles -
на русском его название встречается в виде Лос Анджелес и
Лос-Анджелес. По какому принципу расставляются дефисы я так и не понял
пока. :(
