Just for curiosity sake, I've been tinkering around with other light-weight window managers. I've been experimenting with OpenBox and now with JWM. However, for the life of me, I cannot seem to figure out how to alter my JWM window manager settings. I've looked for the .jwmrc config file in all of the locations that are mentioned in several Linux desktop forums, but cannot find it anywhere in my ALT StarterKit P9 installation. I've even tried creating a completely new .jwmrc config file in my home folder, but it doesn't seem have any effect on my ALT Linux install of JWM.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on how I can either find where ALT has stored the default .jwmrc config file or how I can over-ride it with my own? I'm stumped.

David.

IIRC it's configured at compile time to reduce resource
consumption even on rc file parsing; the package serves
as a "demo" version thus.

There's a guy in our team who uses it but I see that ALT
*package* is an autoimport of Fedora one; I'll try asking
that guy on any hints next time I see him but if you're
not inclined configuring your WM in C and rebuilding it,
maybe look for another one.

http://www.xwinman.org is still reachable (_without_ HTTPS)...

Thanks so much, Michael! That definitely explains it. It was just a curiosity for me, as I never tried JWM (or OpenBox for that matter) before. Will probably try Fluxbox or Enlightenment next. I've used Enlightenment in the past, but can't recall if I've used Fluxbox.

Kind regards,
David.
