У меня uucp пользуется модемом -- раз в неделю, по crontab, он скачивает
почту.

До сих пор все было хорошо: если линия в это время занята, скажем, pppd,
то uucp говорил об этом и ничего не делал. Обнаруживал занятую линию он
либо благодаря locks, либо благодаря тому, что pppd меняет права на
/dev/ttyS0, когда использует его.
