Нет. Я просто подумал, что десктоп сам по себе, будучи постоянно
запущенным, мог бы открывать окна с фолдерами очень быстро.

В ассоциациях такого нет -- только <<по имени>> или <<расширению>>.

Нет, при клике на ссылке на стартовый html какой нибудь доки из
/usr/share/doc хотелось бы временного перехода в каталог, где лежит
оригинал.
