Здравствуйте, уважаемые!
Я обнаружил как-то, что у меня не работает whatis и apropos,
после разбора соответствующих скриптов увидел, что
база данных хранится в файлах whatis где-то в /var/cache/man/,
которые у меня почему-то оказались пустыми...
После некоторых разбирательств наткнулся на
man whatis
оказалось, что генерированием баз данных занимается скрипт makewhatis,
(кстати, в русской версии путь к makewhatis там обозначается, как
@makewhatis@),.
Обрадовался, сгенерировал базу данных.
После некоторого времени обнаружил, что база данных не является полной:
$ whatis runlevel
runlevel: nothing appropriate
$ man runlevel
RUNLEVEL(8) Linux System Administrator's Manual
RUNLEVEL(8)
...
Также whatis passwd не выводит passwd (8).
Вопрос: что нужно сделать, чтобы дополнить базу данных whatis?
(пока в коде makewhatis не разбирался).

Я так понял, что вы говорите о man whatis на русском? Вчера проверил
-- вроде бы там везде пути правильные. Какая версия man-pages-ru
установлена?

Будет в следующей сборке пакета.
P.S. С таким надо было сразу же в багзиллу.

Да я копил баги, прежде чем вешать :-).
Вообще много их по man-pages-ru и по man'ам, всего ещё не прочитал :-).
(ну или достаточно большого количества страниц :-)).
