[altlinux-announce-en] Distribution Release: ALT Education 10.2

Good day!

An assembly of the operating system ALT Education 10.2 on platform 10 
(p10 Aronia branch) has been released. The assembly of ALT Education 
10.2 distribution kit is prepared for i586, x86_64, AArch64 
architectures. The operating system is included in the Unified Register 
of Russian Software and Databases. The distribution includes desktop and 
server applications allowing to integrate student's and teacher's 
workplaces providing rich functionality and conduct administrative and 
economic activities of the institution.

New features and familiar applications

The distribution kit ALT Education 10.2 contains packages of current 
versions for a system environment based on the Linux kernel 5.10 and 
6.1, Glibc 2.32, the GCC 10 compiler set, systemd 249.16. Users of the 
new version will be able to choose to install the system with or without 
the LibreOffice 7.5 office suite. The new version of LibreOffice has 
Belarusian language support with spell checking. The official repository 
of P7-Office applications has been added. The Robotics group has been 
added to the installation menu. This group included the Gazebo Sim 6.14 
3D robotics simulator and an integrated programming environment for the 
Arduino hardware platform with version 1.8.
It is possible now to connect to Wi-Fi in the login screen if KDE Plasma 
is installed.
The distribution includes now special features: the Orca screen reader, 
Speech Dispatcher server.

New application versions

The user is provided with working environments XFCE 4.18 and KDE Plasma 
5.27 to choose from. The distribution is suitable for teaching computer 
science and helps to gain practical operating skills with hardware and 
software. The distribution has programming languages including Perl 
5.34, Python 2.7 and 3.9, PHP 8.0. The office toolkit contains the 
Scribus 1.5 desktop publishing. The usual set of applications for 
working with video and sound files, complex graphics and animation 
includes GIMP 2.10 editing program, Inkscape 1.2 design tool and Blender 
2.93 3D editor. The Chromium 117.0 web browser.

The new version of the distribution kit is based on the stable branch of 
the Platform 10 repository and does not involve incompatible changes 
when moving to 10.2. For new corporate users it is possible to obtain 
test versions and traditionally private users are offered to download 
the required version of the ALT OS for free from the BaseALT Ltd. website:
