В своих расчетах разработчики Linux Foundation использовали схему
Constructive Cost Model, предложенную теоретиком вычислительных систем
Дэвидом Уилером в 2002 году. Выяснилось, что создание ядра
операционной системы в рыночных условиях обошлось бы в 1,4 миллиарда
долларов. Себестоимость всей платформы была оценена в 10,8 миллиарда.
