просидел порядочно читая всё, что попадалось под руку, да так, до конца
и не понял, а скорее даже ещё более запутался.
итак - ху из ху и за что отвечает?
hotplug, hal, dbus, udev, ...

Ну вот, стоит на два дня раз в несколько лет сервер уронить, так сразу
