Все это очень замечательно, но что собственно вы хотите этим сказать?
Никто и не говорил, что ext3 не работает в принципе.
Вся беда в том, что / не маунтится как ext3, если ext3 собрана модулем,
как это сделано в собранных altlinux-team для сизифа ядрах.
Сам я ядро не перекомпилировал уже этак с полгода, и делать этого не
собираюсь и другим не советую. По моему глубокому убеждению в дистрибутиве
(по крайней мере, в нормальном дистрибутиве), _такие_ вещи должны быть
доступны из коробки.
