Ну то есть не стартует и все тут. Стартовый скриптик заверяет - Ok,
на самом деле - фигли :) . Повторилось на двух машинах. После переустановки
на первой - пока работает (Переустанавливалось все - винт умер).
Пускается с -i, впрочем без оного то же самое.

Пробовал - не помогает. Да и в инитскрипте оно чистится само.

там в каталоге /tmp создается файлик.
не помню как называется, но можно понять,
что он к постгресу относится.
сначала остановите постгрес, удалите файл и запускайте.
может помочь.

Во, нашел. Надо rm -f /var/lib/pgsql/data/postmaster.pid .
