Поставил 2.6.24-ice-wks, к которому в Сизифе есть 173.14.05.
Перешел в консоль, 10 секунд и-и-и-и..... опа:

Так что бага в Иксах, и она по-прежнему с нами. Гугль говорит, что за
последние пол-года в разных дистрибутивах, на разных картах, разных
драйверах, разных программах и разных начальных условиях такая же ошибка
вылезает регулярно и относительно воспроизводимо.
