Вот вы, например, не можете одновременно быть и мужчиной и женщиной ...
Так же и каталог, директорий ...
Даже "Folder" в языке оригинала - мужского рода ...
Не стоит обижать то метсто, в котором мы храним наши file пошлыми
намеками на нетрадиционную ориентацию, да ? :)
К слову - file - подшивка, подборка (некоторых данных) в контексте ИТ...
И этот вопрос уже выходит за рамки тематики списка рассылки...
Либо в курилку, либо закроем ...
