До обновления груба, имели в /boot/grub/menu.lst:
splashimage (hd0,1)/boot/grub/pictures/alt-in-dark.xpm
Сплэш нормально отображался.
После обновления груба, удаления пакета grub-graph и установки
bootloader-pictures изменил строку на:
splashimage (hd0,1)/boot/pictures/alt-in-dark.xpm
Однако сплэш упорно не отображается.
Вот начало текущего моего menu.lst:
timeout 5
display vga16
border 000000
background 000000
foreground FFFFFF
shade 1
splashimage (hd0,1)/boot/pictures/alt-in-dark.xpm
default 0
title 2420-alt08-up
......
Чего покрутить, чтобы появился сплэш?

Забудьте про старую схему отображения splash.

- removed old graphics support
- removed grub-graph package (now obsolete)
Подождите до понедельника или найдите мое письмо про GFX в LILO.
В GRUB начать его использовать можно, добавив строчку:
gfxboot (hd0,1)<путь к файлу message>

Это все хорошо, но тогда каково назначение пакета bootloader-pictures?
Особенно учитывая наличие /usr/share/gfxboot/ALTLinux.pcx

Назначение простое - быть убитым из системы.
Как только соберем design-kernel :-)

Это не работает. У меня в меню: gfxboot (hd0,1)/boot/pictures/message.
Файл message естественно собрал.
