Добрый день
1. В ядре 2.4.10 supermount отключен, это теперь навсегда или потом
что-то изменится? На мой взгляд удобная вещь и работает достаточно
стабильно (не хуже automount). Может все-таки стоит его поддерживать,
кому не надо, пусть не пользуются.

Сейчас (с недавнего времени) разработкой supermount занимается Mandrake,
так что есть надежда, что он исправился :-) Возможно, к выпуску следующего
"большого" дистрибутива он будет добавлен.
