Version 2.5 of our default font for the desktop will be released soon.
It addresses some issues with the current version in dapper:

- width of the bullet used for the "display" of the password in
  gdm and gksudo.

- kerning issues with pango 1.12

This version of the font does contain many new glyphs as well (glyphs
(characters) which were missing in DejaVu now and were used from another
font, are now used from the DejaVu font). This is usually not the case
for users of a Latin character set, but testing from users using i.e
greek, coptic, cyrillic, hebrew, chinese, indic, arabic character sets
may be see differences.

We don't know yet, if we should include this new version in dapper.
Please check the new font package and report back problems with this
package available from

Спасибо за бдительность. Действительно, в Dejavu были добавлены 
некоторые символы из шрифта Veraja, и некоторые кириллические глифы были 
слегка улучшены в связи с этим. Собственно, кириллическая страница 
регулярно улучшается, благодаря живому участию Данило Шегана в проекте 
Dejavu. Новая версия шрифтов будет отправлена в Сизиф, как обычно, 
вскоре после выпуска, то есть завтра. Но вряд ли изменения в глифах 
будут сильно заметны :)
А вот на то, что Dejavu недавно стала семьёй шрифтов по умолчанию в 
Ubuntu, я бы обратил пристальное внимание товарищей, создающих 
коробочные версии ALT Linux.

Обязательно обратим внимание - посмотрю как только доедет новая версия.

Странно. Именно этим шрифтом я пишу все электронные письма в 
Thunderbird. Вполне ровные буквы, хотя чёткости местами действительно не 
хватает.

Посмотрел то что есть в Sisyphus (ttf).

Мне очень не понравился шрифт Sans Mono	- размеры букв прыгают, буквы 
тЛШП - размываются (размер - 10).

посмотрел то что в сизифе, собрал 2.5 - Sans Mono ничем не лучше чем в сизифе. 
читать конечно можно, но было бы лучше если бы они не расплывались
