Пытаюсь внести последний штришок - включить relay для тех, кто прошел аутентификацию на smtp и облом:
если добавить опцию в main.cf
smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_mynetworks, permit_sasl_authenticated
то постфик перестает вообще принимать письма.
комментирую и снова все работает.
Чего я не понимаю?

Всё правильно. Чтобы при этом ещё и принимались письма снаружи, нужно
добавить, например, check_relay_domains.

меня выбило из колеи то, что postfix _вообще_ переставал отзываться по 25 порту.
То есть имитировал полное падение.
