Сообщу о похожих граблях:
при запуске mozilla падала, как только пыталась отрендерить
стартовую html-страничку. Т.е. пока страница не загружена,
работала. При помощи strace удалось отследить неудачную
попытку чтения из timesb.ttf. После полного удаления
пакета ms-ttf эффект пропал.
Это не претензия к mozilla, просто на всякий случай.
$ rpm -q freetype2
freetype2-2.1.2-alt2
