Доброго времени суток!
checking for gtk-config... gtk12-config
checking for GTK - version >= 1.2.0... ./configure: line 1: gtk12-config:
command not found
./configure: line 1: gtk12-config: command not found
Что может означать вот такое ругательство?
Я примерно представляю, но совершенно не понял, как лечить.
update-alternatives не помог...

Виноват, должен был сразу сказать. Вот, к примеру, logjam 4.0.1,
завязанный на GTK2, отлично собрался. Пакет стоит.

приложения gtk2 должны требовать gtk+2-devel
[avl@avl avl]$ rpm -qf `which gtk-config`
gtk+-devel-1.2.10-alt6
по моему, ошибка в configure.
ссылку для проверки можно сделать - gtk-config <- gtk12-config

Они и требовали -- до сих пор. А сегодня вдруг взяло и собралось. Я и
подумал, что это какой-то новый способ, про который я не знаю.
