Насколько я понял, речь чуточку не о том.
Александр -- лично у меня дома стоит Master и ничего я на нем из
упомянутого не пересобирал. Как-то оказалась под рукой болванка
с updates -- обновил ядро до 2.4.18-alt8, но мне как бы не
припекало :-)

Для начала -- крепко задуматься, а надо ли его собирать, и если
уж зашло -- вообще обновлять.
Принцип "работает -- не трогай" -- он правильный. ;-)
