При отработке /etc/cron.daily slocate так грузит машину (PIII/600), что
даже мышь виснет.

Зря я грешил на slocate. Это не его вина оказалась.
Это по окончании htdig-dbgen срабатывает rundig и враз отъедает 79%
памяти. В этот момент оказывается занятой вся оперативка (192МВ) и
половина свапа (~150 МВ). И логи пачкает:
/usr/sbin/rundig: xrealloc: cannot reallocate 134217728 bytes (0 bytes
allocated)
