Вообще подобные падения gcc случайным образом обычно связаны с железом
(битая память, разогнанный процессор, ошибки при обмене с диском); об
этом даже GCC-Sig11-FAQ написали. Кстати, сам один раз наблюдал такую
ситуацию с разгоном: вроде все нормально, но gcc на компиляции ядра
падает.
В принципе возможна и какая-то проблема в ядре, приводящая к
загаживанию памяти.
