Вы неправильно трактуете происходящее:
$ pftp

pftp - это обычный ftp, но работающий сразу в PASSIVE MODE.
Для сравнения:
$ ftp

ftp> ls

Повторяю еще раз - ftp-сервер работает только в пассивном режиме и не
поддерживает рекурсивного листинга. Если Вам нужно зеркалировать Sisyphus
или его часть, пользуйтесь протоколом rsync и одноименной программой, его
реализующей.
