Приехал тут 1 сервант.. на котором стоит
LSISAS1064E (AHCI 0001.0100 32 slots 6 ports 3gbps 0x3a impl raid mode)
Я так понимаю - это ведь ниразу не аппратный рейд?
или ошибаюсь?

LSISAS1064E - это контроллер SAS, а то, что в скобках - это SATA
(вероятно, встроенное в чипсет).  Покажите lspci -vvnn полностью.

Да, именно так (и драйверы, где есть какая-то поддержка этого RAID,
как обычно, бинарные).

Посмотрите в BIOS, есть ли возможность переключить этот контроллер в
режим без поддержки RAID - в этом случае LSISAS1064E должен
поддерживаться модулем mptsas (в режиме RAID у этого устройства
меняется как минимум PCI ID).  В случае SATA RAID на похожих платах
модуль ahci должен подхватывать устройство и в режиме RAID, но могут
быть проблемы с загрузкой (например, BIOS может потребовать, чтобы
создали хоть какой-то массив - хотя бы из одного диска).

щас подумаю как  закопипейстиь с этого сервера данные.. на нём пока  нет 
ничего..

Угу выбор режимов есть - рейд,сата ahci.. В редиме рпейда не видны 
диски.. пробовал  убунту, дебиан етч с ядром 2.6.18-4

должен иметь PCI ID 1000:0056.

Ещё можно попробовать загрузить модуль mptsas и выполнить

	echo '1000 0057' >/sys/bus/pci/drivers/mptsas/new_id

Или диски там подключены к SATA, а SAS на самом деле не используется?

Да..в биосе ест ьвыбор реима - sata,ahci,raid.

Да не -в рейде они в менюшке  видны... и само оно гвоорит тчо из 2 
дисков хандлед 1 логикал драйв.

Обычный SoftRAID, аппаратно там ничего не реализовано.

На самом деле для похожих SATA существует как минимум 3 разных
реализации SoftRAID - "родная" от Intel, от Adaptec (на некоторых
платах от Supermicro в BIOS предусмотрены оба варианта), и вот эта от
LSI.  В Linux ни один из этих вариантов нормально не поддерживается
(вроде бы для старых Intel была какая-то поддержка в dmraid, но пишут,
что с новыми версиями чипсетов и BIOS эта поддержка уже не работает).

Если это одна опция с тремя возможными значениями, она явно относится
не к этому контроллеру, а к встроенному в чипсет AHCI.  Хотя в
принципе там могли и как-то скомбинировать это переключение режимов -
закрытый драйвер для поддержки этого SoftRAID общий для SATA и SAS
(несмотря на то, что аппаратно это совершенно различные устройства).

Значит, диски всё-таки подключены к SAS - тогда ahci можно просто
игнорировать.

А что происходит при выключенном RAID в BIOS - диски в Linux видны
сразу (или хотя бы после загрузки mptsas, если по каким-то причинам он
не загружается автоматически)?  Что при этом в lspci - по-прежнему
1000:0057, или всё-таки 1000:0056?

Угу..так ид умал. Тепеь осталось найти оффициальную какую-нибудь инфу 
чтоб успокоить начальство..

ЯА больше никаких опций там и нет..и меню рейда появилсоь толькопосле 
того как в биосе включил.

(если я правильно угадал, что это какая-то из вариаций на тему S5000*)

  SW RAID = Intel Embedded Server RAID Technology II, utilizing system
  processor(s) and memory.

  HW RAID = Intel Integrated RAID, utilizing dedicated Intel IO Processor 333
  and dedicated memory for outstanding performance and reliability.

И HW RAID там имеется только в модели S5000PSLROMB, причём требует
дополнительной покупки ключа активации и модуля памяти.

Особенно "радует" новый способ отъёма денег у покупателя - этот их
SW RAID, помимо обычно встречающихся в подобных случаях RAID 0/1/10,
поддерживает ещё и RAID 5, но для этого требуется докупить "ключ
активации" за $100.

Тогда, видимо, такой вариант и стоит использовать, если нет желания
возиться с бинарным драйвером (который, как обычно, имеет невнятную

В чём может быть проблема -при загрузке доходит до сообщений:

после чего на сервере рсабатывает алярма..и он умирает..перестаёт

Антон, вы не поделитесь, чем все завершилось у вас с этим железом.

А то тут имеются вот 2 брата близнеца...."спецы" по RHEL пятерку свою не смогли
нормально туда взгромоздить....причем я не понял почему.

Браться мне пробовать ставить туда server 4.0?

Пробуйте, я про какую-то 5000 ещё осенью отчёт слал
(работало, разве что на 2.6.16 пришлось сбэкпортить
e1000 из 2.6.17 -- было внесено в пакет, а с тех пор
уже и неактуально).

Не, не получилось ничего. Софтрайд пишет что время синка 10Г раздела - 1000минут :)
Перепробовал все комбинации опций в биосе.

а hdparm -tT что по этим дискам показывает? Может, просто скорость
синхронизации понижена.
