Вот возник такой вопрос.
Сначала опишу обстановку.
Драйвера звука стоят alsa.
Понятное дело, что установлена и поддержка OSS. Более того, в xmms вывод через
OSS работает (выбрано устройство default, и более ничего выбрать не можем).
Еще есть программа, для которой в настройках звук задается в явном виде как
файл устройства (например, /dev/dsp).
Теперь сам вопрос. Какой файл устройства скормить этой программе?
Понятия default для программы нет, устройство должно быть задано явно.
Устройства /dev/dspX, /dev/adspX программа не находит.

Если загружен snd-pcm-oss, разве не должно работать /dev/dsp просто?

В теории должно. На практике -
Input/output error
Could not mmap /dev/dsp.
