Description for test "patch-size":
check patch sizes; patches larger than 20K should be compressed

Пожатый стопудово. Иначе зачем rpm2cpio собран с zlib?
И потом - это легко проверить:

Хм. Кажется, таки пожатый. Во всяком разе, на результат rpm2cpio.sh без
лидирующего gunzip file говорит gzip compressed data.

Это ещё что. Мне вот сегодня приснилось, что я собираю elinks с
поддержкой gnome и kde. Причем процесс сборки отображается на консоли в
виде графа (вроде бы средствами curses, но хитрее: curses так не умеет).
Тут какой-то background connection гадит мне на экран и я судорожно жму
C-L.

По поводу "давайте всё бзипить" единого мнения нет.
bzdio в rpm сейчас выключен, т.е. payload жмется гзипом.

Если .src.rpm используется как основной способ хранения исходников, то для
экономии места имеет смысл включить "_source_payload w9.bzdio", а всё
внутри держать распакованным.
Если же способ хранения таков, что .src.rpm является лишь промежуточной
формой, то имеет смысл делать наоборот (w.fdio).

Скажем так, у rpmio есть отдельные ручки для настройки способа упаковки
исходных и бинарных cpio-архивов.

Я бы сказал, src.rpm есть внешняя (транспортная) форма, а посему есть резон
для _source_payload w9.bzdio; хранению подлежат собственно исходники с
ассоциированной с ними метаинформацией о принадлежности к пакету(ам)
определенных версий по той простой причине, что хранение в src.rpm
избыточно, а операции с таким хранилищем весьма ресурсоемки.
