Вот, наткнулся. Скриншоты впечатляют. Какие шансы, что это попадет в
Мастер?

Hi,

with all this talk about antialias rendering going on, I thought I pass
this on: (as found on www.osnews.com)

  David Chester has hacked through the Xft library and he achieved an
  incredibly good quality  on antialias rendering under XFree86. With
  this "hack", at last, XFree can deliver similar aesthetic results
  with the MacOSX or Windows rendering engines.
  Check the two screenshots "before" and "after" at his page.

Вчера проверил на нашем последнем XFree86, поставив freetype2 2.0.8 и
скопировав передаваемую там библиотеку. Ничего не вышло. Совершенно. Все
выглядит так же, как и выглядело.

Этого в Master не будет. Такие хаки могут похоронить систему. Плохо и то, что
прохачен Xft1 (нынешний), а не Xft2, который гораздо интереснее.
После master будем экспериментировать, но только с cvs XFree.
Зато будет антиалиасная mozilla. Если успею -- сегодня, если нет -- в
понедельник.
