Не есть хорошо т.к. глюки, отсутствующие на -up, могут вылезти на -smp.
Живой прмер (вернее мертвый, если еще не оживили) - драйвер RAID-контроллера
Intel SRCU31L (gdth.o). Сейчас живет на 2.2.20-alt2-smp. А на 2.4.x того же
времени система останавливалась после загрузки модуля.
На более свежих не проверял, т.к. систему поставили в работу.
Т.е. как минимум -smp из xp исключять не имеет смысла, imho ...
