Проверил еще два принтера - Ricoh Aficio MP2000 и HP LJ-2300.
Все ОК.
Видимо, все дело в дровах на хъюлет...
Kyocera-3050, Ricoh-MP200, HPLJ-2300 -- имеют полнофункциональный
принт-сервер;
с ними все ОК.
Если я правильно понял, HP1020/22 не имеют прошивки и используют спец.
драйверы foo2zjs. С ними были похожие проблемы на форуме, но там вообще
"не печатало". А здесь что-то странное.
