Доброго времени! Существует проблема:
На ноутбук Samsung NP-R60FE01 c ALT Desktop 4.1 поставил 4 Gb ОЗУ (2 x
2Gb),
обновил ядро путем - update-kernel -t std-pae, но система видит всеравно
только 3.2 гига.
вот вывод комманд
~]$ uname -r
2.6.25-std-pae-alt8.M41.4
~]$ dmesg | grep Memory
Memory: 3372904k/3406400k available (2283k kernel code, 32292k reserved,
779k data, 396k init, 2488896k highmem)

Покажите ещё на всякий случай dmesg | head -n40; хотя, судя по
обсуждению http://forum.ixbt.com/print/0017/030934.html, это
проблемы BIOS, которые Samsung не хочет чинить.

Да, еще забыл добавить, что в BIOS видны все 4096 mb ОЗУ (2 x 2048 mb),
да и паралельно стоит Windows 7 которая тоже без всяких проблем видит
4Gb ОЗУ...

В данном случае ядро использует всю память, о наличии которой сообщает
BIOS, однако в таблицах BIOS нет информации о памяти, перенесённой
в адреса выше 4 ГБ - либо из-за того, что чип RS600ME не умеет делать
это в принципе (документации по нему в открытом доступе нет), либо
из-за ограничений в используемой версии BIOS. Возможно, какая-то
часть "потерянной" памяти всё-таки используется как видеопамять
(опять-таки неизвестно, как в этом отношении работает RS600ME).
