Звук был. Потом пропал. Какие действия привели к пропаже звука - сказать
не могу.
В винде звук есть.
В мастере 2.4. все работало стабильно. (для настройки использовал
alsaconf) - сейчас при запуске alsaconf говорит, что не находт звуковую
карточку.
Звук набортный (AC97 если не путаю).
Подскажите куда смотреть.

Я бы смотрел в alsamixer -- Master, PCM, Front проверил
на отсутствие буковки M (управляется этой же кнопкой)
и ненулевой/разумный уровень. Ещё может иметь смысл
покрутить, в т.ч. mute/unmute, IEC958*.

Так и есть. На набортном AD1988 после alsaconf крутил то же.
Тока при регулировке подглючивал.
Опция <выбрать главный канал> решила проблему.
