Примерно так:
perl -i -walpe's|subfs|vfat|;s|fs=vfat||' /etc/fstab
Разумеется, так делать не надо, это общая идея.

А зачем, если не секрет? Я вот перехожу на Компакт и пока такого делать не
собираютсь, меня устраивает. Хотя до этого долго монтировал руками (а на
работе и до сих пор).

P.S.: под рукой Компакта нет, могу что-то напутать.

В /etc/hal/fdi/policy/ отломать файлик про subfs.
