Добрый день!
Перевёл рут-партишн в другой раздел. Исправил menu.lst, fstab даю
команду grub-install /dev/hdb5(новый раздел), а мне в ответ, что stage1
некорректно читается. Погуглился, но так и не понял существует ли
решение этой проблемы или нет. Может кто-нибудь встречал и решал такую
задачу?

Вроде надо grub-install hd0,4 (для hda5)
Достаточно просто поправить menu.lst и сделать #grub если он стоит на hda
