Понравилось, как разрешилась проблема с compiz-fusion в Ubuntu 8.04.01 LTS.
У меня ноутбук IBM ThinkPad R40, lspci:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon
Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500]
В убунту компиз включается элементарно в свойствах десктопа, с
эффектами на базовом уровне, но, тем не менее, довольно приятных.
С моей видеокартой - не заработало. Пытаясь самостоятельно понять в
чём дело, обнаружил, что всё, что небходимо для работы компиза есть,
но, тем не менее, компиза не работает.
В результате гугления обнаружилась следующая ссылка:

Скрипт полезный. Но...

Да, согласен, что-то не учитывает. У меня на ALT Linux 4.1 Beta Branch
с картой nVIDIA тоже пишет все проверяемые параметры OK, а компиз - не
работает.
Не "чёрный экран", а просто при запуске менеджера "откатывается"
назад, на кдешный.
Пока не могу разобраться в чём дело... :(
