Я при установке системы пароль root'a оставил как ничего, теперь немогу
войти под суперюзером, что мне теперь делать?

Загрузиться с компакта в Rescue-режиме,
сделать
# chroot /mnt
и
#passwd

Я у себя делаю еще проще:
boot: linux-up init=/bin/bash
....
....
# mount -o remount,rw /
# passwd
# mount -o remount,ro /
<Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Del>
