Ошибся. Без -- sasldb.
Но наверное sasldb и не нужен?
Но тогда получается, что надо поднимать ldap-сервер?
(Файл /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd:
OPTIONS="-a ldap -O /etc/sasl2/saslauthd.conf -n 0"
)

Я пользуюсь pam:
# cat /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd
OPTIONS="-a pam -r -n 0"
А там - pam_mysql
