есть Мастер 2.4+updates
при запуске в Х команды svlc запускается GUI интерфейс программы, но нельзя ни 
добавить файлы в playlist, ни открыть "Preferences" работает только кнопка 
"Hide Playlist" 
в логах:

в добавок к этому еще и 
apt-get install vlc-wx

Я ставил GTK-шную морду. Страшноватая она на вид, но работает.
