Какие сетевые с двух сторон? Было такое с via-rhine и sis900.
Попробуйте mii-tool -F 100baseTx-HD или 10baseT-чего нибудь.
Или порядок включения машин.

eth1 смотрит в локалку, на моей стороне via-rhine,
на той стороне не знаю.
