[Comm] настройка иксов...

Здравствуйте, community.

Помогите решить такую проблему -поставил компакт 2,3 и обновил её из
сизифа. Но после обновления пропали иксы,совсем -на startx bash говорил что
такого нет, service dm start сказал что неизвестный сервис dm.
Поставил xorg. Теперь он говорит что не найдены screen'ы

Хотя в XF86Config они описаны (выдержка из конфига, относящаяся к
настройкам скринов в самом низу ;-). Видеокарта -ATI sapphire radeon
9200 (не se)

Дык если xorg стоит, то файл-то должен называться xorg.conf?

По идее да. Хотя полностью в этом не уверен. Но судя по логам -юзается
только Xf86config.

OK, вполне логично, если из соображений обратной совместимости
XF86Config остается допустимым именем для конфига, но всё-таки 
лучше бы переименовать его в соответствии с новыми соглашениями.

Ну так здесь же всё понятно: анализ файла прерывается из-за
синтаксической ошибки, и до скринов дело просто не доходит.
Даже указано, в какой строке ошибка. Вообще, посмотрев Ваш
файл (Мар'ян Петришин правильно сделал, что попросил 
прислать его целиком), могу сказать, что лучше бы его просто-напросто
пересоздать заново (с помощью xofrgconfig, например), т. к.
он имеет старый синтаксис (еще для X 3.*). Так что проблемы
с совместимостью неудивительны.

Те строки я закомментирвал потом- всё равно говорит что скрины не
найдены..

Попробую. А всё из-за того, что почему то при обновлении из сизифа у
меня  вообще ушли в /dev/nul все иксы. Пришлось их потмо руками
ставить..

Попробовал с помощью xorgconfig создать- доходит до настроек
видеокарты. Спрашивает сколько видеопамяти, потом спрашивает под каким
именем сохранить это в конфиге (сказал что сюда любое можно
вписать,как я понял), ввожу и опять получаю вопрос про количество
видеопамяти... И так до бесконечности и дальше (прям как в мультике).

Попробовал поставить драйвера с сайта ATI. что бы воспользоваться
ихнем fglrxconfig (естественно с помощью rpm
-i --replacefiles) и получал при установке вот такое вот сообщение:

 Скрипты по указанным путям не запускаются даже под рутом. после
 xfglrxconfig получаю сообщение о кучи ошибок в конфиге. И основное,
 как я понял, -ему не понравился busid для agp (PCI:1:0:0)

 Что дальше?

Любое.

Никогда такого не замечал за ним. Сейчас вот еще раз попробовал его
прогнать, и никакого намека на мертвый цикл не увидел.

Вот по этому поводу ничего не скажу (пускай отвечают те, кто имел
дело с данным конкретным железом и драйверами для него). Но
мне представляется, что надо бы всё-таки сначала сгенерировать
рабочий конфиг, позволяющий хоть как-то запустить иксы, а потом
уже возиться с установкой коммерческих драйверов.

Хм. Час от часу не легче.
Попробую всё что сейчас в системе есть из xorg заново переустановить.

Кстати говоря - могут ли быть проблемы, из-за того, что в системе
стоят:
kernel-modules-fglrx и xorg-x11-drv-ati? Подозреваю, что 1 вынести
надо.

Тогда вопрос -в каком пакете xorgconfig. И какого "калибра" у вас этот
пакет?

Вот на это пусть отвечает кто-нибудь другой: у меня Slackware :(
Однако же X он и в Африке X: не думаю, чтобы тут какие-то
дистроспецифичные глюки были...

В общем после ковыряния конфига руками.... Иксы вроде бы удалось
запустить- появился крестик на чёрном фоне. Это, как я понимаю и есть
иксы? Как теперь до Kde добраться?

Хм.  Скорее всего, не установлена ни одна из графических
оболочек.

KDE, говорите?  А rpm -qa | grep ^kdebase что-то говорит?
