Так и у меня ведь обычный десктоп. И все равно я пользую связку
программ: fetchmail, postfix, procmail, sylpheed. Еще
документацию почитаю, добавлю в нее uw-imap, так и вовсе кайф
будет. Конечно, если у вас dialup, то плюсы fetchmail'а не столь
велики (хотя можно настроить скрипты, которые будут запускаться
по cron'у, дозваниваться и скачивать почту автоматически), а вот
при подключении через локалку я уже без fetchmail-daemon жизни
себе не мыслю.
