Раньше не сталкивался с проблемой, все из коробки
работало, - что-то изменилось?
Создал репозитарий, положил туда файл.
$ cvs import modul me start
Посмотрел, лежит. Права michael:cvs
Пытаюсь его забрать -
$ cvs co modul
cvs checkout: Updating modul
cvs [checkout aborted]: cannot make directory
/var/lock/cvs/modul: Permission denied
cvs [checkout aborted]: cannot make directory
/var/lock/cvs/modul: Permission denied
$
Что-то я не так сделал?

Пробовали, конечно, и usermod -G cvs, и -g cvs, и
перелогинивался после.

У меня так:
$ ls -ld /var/lock/cvs
drwxrws--T 3 root cvs 4096 Авг 3 21:31 /var/lock/cvs
Следовательно, достаточно быть в группе cvs, чтобы это работало.
(в группы я себя обычно добавляю прямым редактированием /etc/group)
TЕсли не помогает, то
ls -ld /var/lock/cvs
ls -l /var/lock/cvs
id
сюда. (или на irc) :)
