Возьмите 2.2.x или пересоберите ядро "-linus".
Я вообще брал исходники от 2.4.19, последний патч reiserfs,
.config от ALTLinux и самостоятельно компилировал и ставил.
В таком варианте ядро 2.4.x с dosemu уживается.
