Нет, лучше поставить нормальный звук.
Вчера лично убедился, что J2 на Trident 4Dwave под alsa выдает
конкурентное проигрывание ("за так", просто после установки, в
т.ч. через /dev/dsp) -- ау, все же -- у кого с каким железом
(кроме 4dwave, ess186x и sblive) еще такой "эффект" наблюдается?

Это если NVIDIA :) Хотя что еще остается, домой-то...
В общем, субъективно -- берите лучше меньше, да лучше -- на
монитор денег оставьте, прочую обвязку (принтер/сканер/писалка /
семейчный бюджет).
А, из любимого: если есть приличное звуковоспроизведение, то
шнурок за полдоллара может быть куда уместнее поллитровых
колонок. Ну если совсем приличное -- тогда с S/PDIF и не
полдоллара, но все равно уместнее :)
PS: и тут Остапа понесло...
