По личному опыту скажу что все же все зависит от задач, на что вы
больше ориентированы как пользователь?
Единственное где имеет смысл использовать более дорогую связку
P4+"мама под него" - это если вы занимаетесь
кодированием-декодированием больших потоков информации,
архивирование, видео, графика, конвертирование звука.
В остальном имеет смысл посмотреть не ни на Duron, а все же если вы
предпологаете использовать DDR - память на Athlon XP от 1600+ ,
только на ╨той частоте вы реально почуствуете выигрыш от орошей
памяти.
По производителю мнения разойдутся все равно, но я бы подсказал
смотреть в сторону Soltek и их прелестной мамы DRV-5. Выбор бренда
основан на том, что свои referance платы VIA заказывает у них.
Ядрышко придется обновить до свежего Сизифового 2.19 вместе с alsa
и дровами для NVidia. Если не попадется Soltek, смотрите в сторону
ECS, BioStar Chaintech. Нерекомендую MSI (MicroStar) - возможны
проблемы с питанием и нагревом проца, проверено что заменой мамы
однажды температуру процессора удалось снизить на 20 градусов - все
остальное одинаково, мерялось физически
