SGML конвертируют в другие форматы и тогда просматривают.
Например db2{dvi,ps,html,pdf,rtf}

В этом формате её хранят, а читают в производных форматах,
например, html.
Если это DocBook/SGML, то
$ rpm -qf `which docbook2html`
docbook-utils-0.6.10-alt3
