Если у вас нет библиотеки с лентами, то IMHO винты удобнее...
Единственное, я бы рекомендовал смотреть на eSATA/eSATAp.
А вот если у вас есть нормальная библиотека с роботом, то она намного
удобнее винтов - в нормальном софте можно настроить сложную логику
использования лент. Только надо учитывать, что ленты не очень быстрая
технология, да ещё и строго потоковая, выдрать один файл с ленты может
быть весьма трудоёмко.
У меня знакомые перед лентами поставили буфер в виде винта на который
сливается бэкап со всех машин, а потом уже неспешно распихивается по
лентам. Но у них библиотека на ~90 кассет кажется.
