Не замечал тормозов openvpn.
Специально померял - при получении данных по 100 мегабит сети (прилично
нагруженной), через openvpn - 6 мегабайт в секунду с FTP, напрямую -
6.5 Mb/s
В каких случаях у openvpn вылезают тормоза ?
