"осыпание поверхности" - это ошибки в момент обращения к битым областям,
после чего raid должен пометить диск как битый и больше не обращаться к
нему, а "потерянную" информацию вычислять из контрольной суммы (для
raid5). А в нормальном состоянии контрольная сумма не проверяется. Иначе
тормоза будут страшные.
